Beware the Anarchists

By Tim Kight on June 9, 2020

Proverbs 29.10
“Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless and seek the life of the upright.”

There are people of violence and murder in the world. Described in this proverb as “bloodthirsty men,” there are evil people who are driven by a deep and depraved antagonism toward the good things in society, and they have a violent hatred of good people.

It is a disturbing reality, but it is a reality nonetheless: Evil, bloodthirsty people seek to destroy the ideas, individuals, and institutions of a civil society. They are anarchists who want to destroy what is right and eliminate who is right.

During the recent riots, we witnessed these people on the streets of American cities. We saw video after video of Antifa thugs with instigating violence, destroying property, attacking people, and fomenting chaos.

What should have been a peaceful and powerful protest about the unlawful death of George Floyd beneath the knee of a Minneapolis police officer, was turned into a wave of violent riots in cities across America. More innocent people were killed. Buildings were burned. Stores were looted. Small businesses were destroyed. Communities were devastated.

How did this happen?  It was because of “bloodthirsty men who hate those who are blameless and seek the life of the upright.”

From the beginning, in the first family on earth, this violent conflict manifested itself when Cain murdered his younger brother Abel. Why did Cain do such an evil and terrible thing? Because he loved sin, and he hated Abel for being better than him (see First John 3:12).

The conflict continues today. Indeed, the battle between good and evil is heating up. Be prepared. Put on the full armor of God and stand firm.
