Proverbs 30.4
“Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son’s name? Surely you know!”
A wise person looks at the beauty of creation and realizes that the design and majesty of nature is not the work of random forces. The obvious design and order of the physical world speaks eloquently and beautifully that there is a Creator.
“For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” (Romans 1.19-20)
Skeptics can wax eloquent about their doubts and denials regarding God’s existence, but they do so in the face of overwhelming evidence there we live in a world that was created by the great Designer. It really is a logical, reasonable, scientific conclusion that the universe was created by God. Based on the evidence, what other reasonable explanation could one put forth?
The claim of nonbelievers is that an impersonal universe + matter/energy + time + chance produced the ordered beauty of our world. The problem with this assertion is that there is no evidence for it. Where in nature … where in our world … where in the observable universe do we see random forces of nature producing order and design?
More specifically, organic life is a central characteristic of the design of planet earth. Where in nature do we see inorganic material giving rise to organic material? Where is the evidence that would lead us to believe that non-life (impersonal matter and energy) somehow produces living plants and animals?
The creation itself bears witness to the infinite, personal Creator. The origin and design of the world in which we live — indeed, the origin and design of our very lives — is found in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
When one stops and considers the grand design and beauty of the earth, the doubts and denials of the skeptics ring hollow and empty. When you hold a newborn baby in your arms and consider the wondrous miracle of human life, the handiwork of the great Architect is undeniable.
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” (Psalm 19.1-4)
